Slab/ Flat Saw Operator

Job Description

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Operate walk behind saws and other cutting equipment to cut various concrete grades and depth.
Read and interpret blueprints to determine the dimensions and specifications of cuts.
Measure and mark materials for accurate cutting.
Ensure that all cuts are made according to specifications and quality standards.
Maintain and clean cutting equipment regularly.
Follow safety procedures and guidelines while operating machinery.
Inspecting rim and blade guards.
Draw a line on the cutting surface and measure.
Measure and mark materials for accurate cutting.
Completing post cut inspections.
Operate cutting tools & equipment.
Ensure the material is firmly clamped to a desk.
Choose a blade that matches the material.
Reduce the blade depth by 1/4 inch.
Verify the bevel angle.
Connect the saw’s cord or battery to a power source.
Place the saw shoe near the cutting line and on the edge of the material.
Proper use of blade guards
Ensure that all cuts are made according to specifications and quality standards.
Maintain and clean cutting equipment regularly.
Follow safety procedures and guidelines while operating machinery.

Workdays & Shifts:

Normal working hours are from 7am – 4pm
Must also be available to work varied shifts depending on job requirements such as and not limited to days, nights and weekends.
Must be able and willing to work overtime when required.
The ability to travel for extended periods of time.

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

Valid driver's license - Required.
No misdemeanor or felony driving offenses within the last three years

Experience & Knowledge:

3 years’ experience working as a Slab/Flat Saw Operator in the concrete industry
Experience as a carpenter or in a related field such as trim carpentry, concrete pumping, tile laying, or masonry is preferred.
Ability to perform heavy lifting and operate heavy equipment.
Knowledge in reading and interpreting blueprints.
Knowledge of different materials and their cutting requirements.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurements.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Excellent problem-solving skills.

Other Requirements:

Must be a minimum of 18 years of age or older.
Ability to pass pre-employment drug screens & background checks, including MVR.
